[ICOM] PBT Mod and questions

Hi Warren,

My understanding is that the patent dispute was with a Japanese engineer who
held the original PBT patent. In any event, the dispute was settled in 1990.
Icom responded by releasing the "Series 3" IC-751A (new logo/PBT) and
resuming delivery of the IC-735.

There were 3 series of the IC-751A: 1. old logo/PBT. 2. new logo/IF shift.
3. new logo/PBT. There is a procedure for enabling PBT on the Series 2
IC-751A here:

http://www.qsl.net/ab4oj/icom/icom.html#ic751a

I have done the PBT mod on the IC-765 and IC-751A, but never on the IC-x75
series. The mod consists of re-installing the control and wiring it in, as I
recall.

Cheers for now, 73,
Adam VA7OJ/AB4OJ

Subject: [ICOM] PBT Mod and questions

Hello:
I have a newer Icom 275H that does not have PBT. It has the "Data
Level" control which I don't use. Has anyone performed the PBT restoration
mod found on modsDK? Did it work as advertised?
I think PBT is a very useful feature, might be worth restoring it on the
275H.
I have an Icom 751A with PBT, did Collins sue Icom in the early 1990's for
some sort of patent infringement on the PBT circuitry found on older Icom
Radios?
What was the outcome of that situation?
