[ICOM] PBT Mod and questions

Hello:
       I have a newer Icom 275H that does not have PBT.  It has the "Data Level" control which I don't use. Has anyone performed the PBT restoration mod found on modsDK?  Did it work as advertised? 
I think PBT is a very useful feature, might be worth restoring it on the 275H.  
I have an Icom 751A with PBT, did Collins sue Icom in the early 1990's for some sort of patent infringement on the PBT circuitry found on older Icom Radios?
What was the outcome of that situation?
