[ICOM] TX troubles on IC 7000

John, Bob,
On the IC-7000, I am aware of the reported 8 kHz tones and poor transmit
audio response in some TBW settings. I am not aware of any transmitter
output drop-off issue.
Bob, were those the two questions to which you referred? Also, many thanks
for the kind comments!
In general, ICOM installs any and all improvements into a radio at no charge
when it comes in for repair, as long as it is the same model. Icom will not
upgrade a radio to the next model up (e.g. an IC-706MkII into a MkIIG.) I
have this on excellent authority.
I tend to look at radio issues from an engineering as well as an operating
perspective. I have been a telecom engineer (now retired) for almost as long
as I have held an amateur licence.
Cheers for now, 73,
Adam VA7OJ/AB4OJ

That's a good question John:
I don't know the answer, but Adam has such a feel for not only the Ham
Operator side of things but also for what Icom (as a manufacturer and
developer) has to battle that I hope he answers both our questions.
I know many times as operators we tend to look at it from our own bottom
line point of view (do it work or don't it) while not considering the
marketing, Q&A, Development side of things that I was hoping Adam could help
shed some light where we could all understand it better.
He seems to have a balance of it all for some reason, which is one reason
why I love reading this group.
