[ICOM] Question abt 746 pro and G5RV combo

Brian, I know the type of ladder line you are using.
On mine I have 32 feet of the 450 ohm window line with no balun and 70  feet 
of coax after the window line.
The 70 feet of coax helps to tame the beast.
An old timer told me to always have at least 70 feet of coax and roll up  the 
rest that is not used.
That is my setup.
I have an MFJ Tuner III and work 10, 15, 20, 40 and 80 meters with the  G5RV.
I can also tune the WARC bands.
Could be your Kenwood's tuner has a broader tuning range over the  ICOM.
I really have no other explanation.
You might want to go with an 80 meter Dipole and I think  your Icom can tune 
it for 40 meters as well.
You can use you G5RV for 10, 15, and 20 and the Dipole for 40 and 80  meters.
