Brian:

Why not try the hustler 5BTV ?    It is not that expensive, you can
tune it, you can easily lay it down as the 500mph winds pass by, then
put it back up. and it just works.  no vodooo no magic.  the only down
side is it does not work on the WARC bands or 60M  You remember 60M
the band we "needed " for emergency coms in the event of a emergency.
