[ICOM] Icom 756PRO question

Hi John,

I had an IC-756 (by no means amateur, merely hybrid analogue/DSP) from 1998
to 2000, and an IC-756Pro from 2000 to 2002. The NB was quite effective
against impulsive noise (some types of power-line, ignition and
electrical-machinery noise), but tended to distort strong SSB signals on
voice peaks. I found the NR/NB combination most useful. The NB will not
suppress the type of noise which shows on the spectrum scope as an infinite
series of harmonically-related tones.

Starting with the IC-756Pro2, Icom added an adjustable NB threshold as a
menu item. This was one of the many reasons why I upgraded, first to the
Pro2, and now to the Pro3.

If you are contemplating a 756Pro-series purchase, I would recommend that
you go to the Pro2 (or even better, the Pro3.)

Cheers for now, 73,
Adam VA7OJ/AB4OJ
