You need 12 dB of front panel attenuation to get rid of the IMDDR3 bleeps
on the Pro3 and Pro2 (the Yaesu MP series needs 6 dB).

I run my Pro3 with 18 db of front panel attenuation on 160 meters
(there's plenty of receiver gain so that you can do that!) and never am
bothered by "images" (with the MP you have to run the audio gain full
bore if you use as little as 6 dB).

The Pro3 is my favorite radio for contesting (I also have an FT-1000MP
and a K2).
