No, Cliff, this is definitely a red covered wire. I have two shields, one
copper and one silver. The copper colored is wrapped around the white wire.
The silver colored appears to be a shield. Then there is a black, blue,
green, white and red. By the way, this microphone may have originally come
with the IC-706. I originally had both the IC-706 and an IC-706IIG. I sold
the former and may have sent the wrong mike with it. But both mikes worked
with both rigs.
