[ICOM] Icom PW-1 Failures - How To

Hi Mike,
Agreed. In general terms, the exciter's internal autotuner is not needed
when driving a solid-state amplifier. To my knowledge, all solid-state HF
and HF/6m amplifiers have a broadband input circuit which presents a flat
50-ohm resistive load to the exciter.
If matching is required, the amplifier's internal ATU (if fitted) can be
left in the signal path when the PA stage is off-line. It will match the
load, and provide some additional preselection on receive.

Cheers for now, 73,

Better read the manual. It states NOT to use the rig's internal tuner when
using the PW-1!
