John,
The menu should have a hi/low mic gain setting like my IC208. Check
your manual. If that does not do it, forget it, there are no
adjustments you can make. Icom will only release the required software
to an "authorized repair center". I had that argument numerous times
with Icom and their reps at some hamfests. I no longer purchase Icom
radios due to this issue and the excessive mic gain on IC2000, IC2100
and the IC207H models. At least I can fix the older models by changing
a resistor on the mic amp.

Subject: [ICOM] IC-2710H Transmit Audio Too Hot
The microphone on my IC-2710H mobile is overdriving the radio. The
mic is
so sensitive that I have to hold it 1 foot away to get reasonable
transmit
audio levels. I have verified this on a service monitor. Since I do
not
have a service monitor for the rig, can anyone tell me what trimmer or
control inside of the radio to adjust to set the transmit audio levels
back?
Thanks.
