[ICOM] ic703 question

Folks,

I have the HF only version, and the band edge beep function seems 
busted. It works OK on 160m, but on all other bands--no beep at the 
edge. Further, the rig will transmit outside the amateur bands. Anybody 
else experience this problem with their 703?

I honestly can't recall if the rig behaved this way when it was new. 
Maybe I zapped something when I opened it up to add the CW filter and 
perform the key-jack mod???

I tried the CPU reset, no luck. I have the service manual for the 
rig--no help there either. Anybody have an idea of what else to try 
before I send the rig back to Icom?
