I've used the IC-706 MK II G and AT-180 for maybe three years.

1) I use both Hustler mobile antennas (and the short MO-4 mast)
and the Ironhorse antennas and have great results from both.

2) I have a Diamond K-400 mount on the trunk of a Toyota Camry.
After installing the mount, I beaded some silicone RTV along the
perimeter to keep out the rain water from the mount base, to prevent
water from collecting and rusting the trunk lid. I use a very
heavy duty 3/8-inch quick disconnect, so only the mount is
on the trunk most of the time. I don't leave the rig in the car
for security reasons.

3) For active mobile work, (ie, operating while driving), I use
the Hustler as it's shorter and less likely to snag on trees,
parking structures, and sway at freeway speeds.

4) For stationary mobile work, I prefer the Ironhorse, as the total
antenna is much longer, about six feet or so. Seems to radiate
a little better, and has broader bandwidth.

5) Results is I've worked around the Pacific Basin rim, and
North and South America, and southern portion of Africa
quite easily when the bands are in. Worked the ARRL 10M
contest QRP primarily with the set up and snagged top
SSB station in Oceania with slightly more than 50 stations
in 2002 -- not bad considering I couldn't work the whole contest
period.

6) For "home"/fixed portable, I use the Alpha Delta Outpost
tripod with the same whips. I've done the same and more,
including getting Diego Garcia long path which is quite a trick
considering the pile-up.

7) Considering the limitations and capabilities of mobile
verticals, I'm very satisfied with both the Hustler and Ironhorse.
