I have had a heck of a time getting the sound cards right. Never could get the Rascal to work on the laptop. I did get the Signal Link to work on the desktop but now the desktop has a corrupted file and the harddrive needs to be replaced I think.
Back to the laptop.... I think I found the problem.. The mike input on the laptop does not work. How I discovered this was I was trying to get on Echolink and could not get the Mic to work. I have tried several mic's but no success. I have checked the sound card settings too! Always something! Receive works good on Echolink but can't transmit. When I responded a few minutes ago I mistyped my rig is the 706 not the 761!

Hi- Had about the same thing with my TS-940.Was trying to use a home built
cable and couldn't get it to work correctly.I fed the mic jack, which is
ok,but very sensitive.Later got the correct cable and was able to run from
the ACC jack. I now have Icom'sand all run well with Rascal from the Acc
jack. Play with yr gain controls for the sound card .Get back if you need
