[ICOM] IC-2100 fused ground wire

Hello- I recently got interested in ham radio after being out of it for 
several years. Got my ticket and purchased an icom 2100H rig. Right away I 
noticed a fuse in the ground wire as well as the "hot" wire.
I've worked on a lot of commercial 2-way rigs in the past and don't recall 
ever seeing a fused ground wire. Is this a form of "double insurance" or 
what? Any comments appreciated- on or off list.
