First, my THANKS to all who responded - great ideas, all!

So, now that I've resolved the issue, let me tell a story on myself. It
seems that after a late night working some great DX, I somehow managed to
bump the "AMPS" control on my Astron VS-35M power supply, which reduced the
allowable amperage from the maximum down to something that the Icom 756 Pro
was not comfortable with.

It's interesting that driving the Alpha 87a over 800 watts caused the
problem with the flickering display on the 756 Pro. The extra current
needed from the Astron for the 756 Pro to drive the Alpha 87a a bit harder
caused the Pro's display to dim/flicker. Learned something.....it sure
*acted* like RF was getting into the Pro, but that turned out not to be the
case.

Many thanks to everyone who replied. My station is now dust free, every
connector/cable has been thoroughly cleaned and secured, and I did find one
loose connection I need to attend to, but which had nothing to do with my
problem.

What got me directed to the solution was Larry's (WØNFU) comments about
power possibly being a source of the problem. That's when I looked at the
Astron and noticed the amp control had been moved. Duh....so simple, yet
so complex. ;-)

Thanks again guys - your time is greatly appreciated....

73,
Joe
