As Vic has suggested, the radio has been "modded" in order to open the
transmit capabilities, and yes, you lose the band-edge "beep" when you do
that.  No harm, no foul, if you like it like that.  If not, replace the
teenie diode that has been removed.  The radio did not come that way, the
dealer is spoofing you about that.  It is obviously a unit the dealer had
modified and used for "demo", or, MOST LIKELY, a customer return that was
repackaged and sold to you as new.
