Good idea with the graphite.  Especially since WD-40 IS NOT a lubricant!
The WD stands for Water Displacement (insoluble in water, displaces water).
The carrier, which IS flammable, does have some lubricating properties.  But
it will evaporate and leave behind a sticky residue.

Also, do not spray WD-40 into a high-voltage cabinet.  One of our
underground-line crews tried it.  The flash-over killed them both.  The
crew-boss did CPR and got them both started again, and they did recover, in
about a year.  It was an innocent mistake.  Everyone uses WD-40 for nearly
everything, but it just ain't a good idea sometimes.
