[ICOM] BCB Interference.

Dan,
I haven't tried them, but I've been studying those at
http://www.arraysolutions.com/. They're made my ICE and W3NQN. I spoke
with W3NQN and read comments on bandpass filters (theirs and Dunestar's) on
the cq-contest archive at contesting.com. W3NQN's seem to be the ultimate
in performance but with a price that's up there too. The ICE is $36, I
think, and the W3NQN filter is $160 for a model you can transmit through.
He makes a BCB filter (i.e., high-pass with a 1800 cutoff) for receiving
only that he says has a minimum 50 (maybe 55?) db attenuation below 1800.
That one is $200.
I hear the second harmonic of a 50 KW station maybe 10 miles from me on 1580
mixing with the fundamental of a 5 KW station on 1310. I hear it at 1850 (2
X 1580 - 1310). I've been told it's probably occurring in the second mixer
of the PROII but haven't tried a BCB filter yet.
The station on 1310 reduces power to 500 W at night, and the second and
third harmonics of the 50 KW 1580 station are gone then too, and so it the
"signal" on 1850. Since it's a daytime problem on 160, it really isn't
anything I should even worry about (I can't help myself!).
I will say I never noticed this BCB stuff on 160 when I had my MP or my
MARK-V, both of which have a preselector. I very much like my PROII, but
this does seem to be an offset to the features I like.

I need a BCB filter.
One of the local AM stations is now a problem all over HF.
I have checked my IC756pro2 and also my IC756pro and they both hear this
station all over HF.
This has just started I am wondering if this station has been allowed a
higher power level as I have not had problems in the past.
Was a 5000w station about 2.5 miles from here on 1100kc.
Every 1100kc I hear the station loud and on certain freqs in between.
Anyone out there know where to get a good BCB filter?
Thanks

But there was billions and billions of electrons disturbed.
