[ICOM] Icom "Dual Watch" feature and the Balance Control

Hi Don,

The Icom Dual Watch architecture was not the result of any
patent-infringement concern, as far as I am aware. It was a practical
compromise dictated mainly by cost factors. The IF outputs of the two 1st
mixers are actually combined in the analogue domain by a combiner following
the A and B 1st mixers. The IC-781 was the first Icom HF transceiver with
Dual Watch.

The IC-7800 has a true dual-receiver architecture with separate RF inputs
and baseband outputs, allowing "stereo" and diversity reception. This
configuration is not in breach of any patent I can think of.

Cheers for now, 73,
