[Icom] RE: expensive radios

Hi all
   Radio's really need not to be expensive. I do a lot of repairs as a hobby
and come across many good deals on the net. The whole key is you must know
how to fix them...... For instance , I just bought a Yaesu 1000MP that was
hit by lighting for $300.00   It cost me about 300.00 for the parts, that
also include a new control board. so for 600.00 dollars I have a beautiful
radio that works perfect. I bought two  FT-990 That were mint with box's and
all ..paid 200.00 for each... fixed both for less than 75.00 dollars in
parts. Another one... Kenwood TS-940 for $300.00 that worked with problems.
Had  filters, that I sold .. I have about 50.00 dollars in the radio
...Another one..  bought a Kenwood TS-850SAT  for 500.00 with DDS problems
loaded with filters..sold them fixed the radio and bought a new face plate
for it. works perfect and is mint now got about 200.00 dollars in it
......So you see you can have nice radio's for pennies on the dollars,   if
you can repair them and it's a lot of fun to boot ....
