[Icom] AH-4 & Hamstick

Hello,

I just put an AH-4 into service tuning a 102" whip from Radio Shack. It
is all mounted in the center of my Passat Wagon on a four magnet mount
and grounded with braid to a roof rack bolt.

I have read that using a 20 meter Hamstick in place of the simple whip
will add enough "center-loaded" inductance to allow better matching 80-6
and better performance.

Has anyone found that to be true? Would there be a difference using a 40
meter Hamstick? A 80 meter Hamstick?

The current configuration (simple whip) seems to load and match with a
swr of less than 1.5:1 on all freq 80-6. But would I notice an
efficiency increase using the Hamstick?

Thanks & 73's
