[Icom] IC-756 Pro II vs Yaesu FT-1000D

I have a 1000D and a Pro - - not the Pro II. As the other responses
indicate, I think they are very close. Each has its strong points. I
think the Pro is better for SSB, both on transmit and receive. On CW, I
tend to prefer the 1000D. It has an audio peak filter which I find
useful for digging out very weak CW signals. I wish the Pro had such a
filter. (Of course, I wish the 1000D had a band scope).
On the other hand, as you know, the Pro's noise blanker is not
adjustable (made adjustable on the Pro II). In my opinion it also is
largely ineffective. The noise reduction on the Pro is helpful,
although, it does introduce some significant audio artifacts. The noise
blanker(s) on the 1000D are effective but in fairness, they also
introduce distortion if turned up too far. The sub receiver on the Pro
does work, but I think that feature is better implemented on the 1000D
and, of course, the 1000D's sub-receiver has no band restrictions.

They are both fine radios. So much depends on what you want to do with
them that I think it is really hard to choose.

Joe... I have a Pro, and a 1000D.
I have compared them MANY times. I ended up keeping them both!
Everytime I A/B them, the one I am using is the one I like.
With QRM, or band conditions..the PRO allows you to tighten up
selectivity,
slide the
passband either way, auto notch, manual notch etc.
The 1000D is better at hearing the desired signal without having to
start
'playing' .
It also has QRM features, but works well without a lot of 'twiddling'.
The received CW note is a bit nicer also, and I like the characteristics
better as well.

Has anyone performed an A/B comparison of the two radios? I have a Pro
II,
which is much better than the Mark V I had (sold it), but I would like
to
know how the Pro II measures up to the FT-1000D.

Thanks!

Joe
