Hi Pete,

Can't help with the AM problem but if it's any consolation the falloff in 
the spectrum scope sensitivity is also noticeable on my "original" IC-
756. I reckon the gain drops off by about 3-4dB with time. This mainly 
affects the noise floor and weaker signals of course. Both tend to 
disappear! It takes a signal of >S5-6 or so to register on the display.

In the 756 as distinct from the PRO, the gain was not high in the first 
place either. To improve that, VK4CP has a mod on his home page 
which adds one resistor to increase the said gain. This may not apply 
to the PRO of course.
