Hello, all.

It was wierd, but replacing the SEND relay in my 756PRO fixed the
problem.

I can think of two possible reasons that it might have gone bad: this
rig was on the Clipperton trip and went to Bhutan shortly thereafter.
It might have been abused on one of those DXpeditions. I've not used
an amplifier since.

Or, I might have a common mode voltage between the amp I'm trying to
use and the radio. I didn't have a coax between the two units when I
saw the problem, and no ground on the amp. The amp was acting
strangely, also, so....

And, a couple of tips who try to replace this relay themselves: the
ground side of the relay is soldered to a fairly large section of
copper on the PC board, and takes a fair amount of heat to unsolder
and resolder. If I weren't desperate, I'd have sent it off to have it
repaired.
The other tip: It's quite easy to reinstall the DSP module backwards
(the two connectors swapped). The radio doesn't power on that way,
but tries to when power is first applied from the PS.
It took me too long, and was pretty stressful, when the radio refused
to work at first. It did not, apparently, do any damage, but it had
me going for a while.
