[Icom] Problem with CT-17

John wish you would of put your own email address in your query.
most likely (???) the chip is gone but I would see if a friend near you has
a ct-17 and try it this will tell you if yours is really  bad if so  I
recomend cutting the chip out the leaving the pins  in so you could remove
them one by one etc then install a socket and replace the chip MAX232CPE-ND
Digi-Key has them think less that 5 bux I would by two as it is the only
thing really that goes in the CT-17 around this area quite a few during
lightning  and thunder storms have been blown and the socket makes it easy
to change.
