Actually Adam, it does NOT get disabled UNLESS you select ANT 1.

In the ANT 2 position, it IGNORES the external tuner and just zaps it with 100 watts 
of RF regardless (ouch!)

Mine survived just fine though, so I am most impressed with the AH4 so far. I have 
been doing some fine DXing from 160 thru 10m 
with this random wire too.

Can't WAIT to get the horiz. loop up!
