[Icom] PW-1 Control Cable Length? & Split

The control cable to the PW-1 control console is "hardwired" at each =
end. I'm planning a split disconnect using some sort of small =
9-conductor connector. At the same time I plan to increase length maybe =
10 feet. Reasons are for easier positioning of the console on the shack =
desks AND getting the amp farther away from me. The fans are NOISY!  My =
question is whether anyone here has any input for or against this. Maybe =
data loss with length? Any one done this before?
