[Icom] TS940 VS IC751A

I have had a an IC 751A for 15 years. However, half the time it sat in the
attic while I was QRT. Nonetheless, when I unpacked it recently and plugged
it in, it played perfectly even though the heat in the attic was extreme
over the years and might have damaged something.

Since I was wondering how it had performed for others over the years, I
recently queried one of the HRO stores here in CA about what problems they
had heard about it. The reply stated that only a very few were returned for
service reasons. And that when there was a problem, it often was to replace
a capacitor in the audio amplifier. So, I intend to keep mine as it works
fine for me.

If you want more info, the IC 751A was reviewed in the January 1985 QST, pg
34.

I have no experience with the TS 940 so cannot comment on it.
