try
wiring a straight key or SPST switch in parallel with the keyer.

What would that solve?

It's too early in the morning. I mistakenly thought the message had
something to do with the Pro II. Since that's what this thread is about...

The would have the same effect as a closed circuit on the keyer. It'd
either send dits or dahs.

I solved the problem already. Thanks for the help.

Hi All,
I am one of the people on this group that had trouble with the PRO's tuner
on 6 meters. Just got the rig back from Icom last Thursday and they had
to replace two relays in the tuner. The rig now works like new. I will now
follow the info listed below and hope all will be ok.

OK, I give up. I bought a new front panel for my IC-756PRO to replace a =
scratched one. I started trying to take the front panel off and after a =
hour or so I gave up and put the thing back together. Couldn't get it =
off without a crow bar. Something is holding it around the left front as =
best I can tell. I un-soldered some of the pads I figured were holding =
the PC board on so as to get to the back of the front panel to see =
what's holding it.
What is the secret to removing the front panel?

George, you should get the PRO service manual. It has exploded diagrams
that show you how all that is put together. I don't think that it could be
described in words alone . . .

I just looked at my manual and the drawings are so dense and on 8-1/2x11
paper are so small that making a copy would just not work. The only way I
could see any detail was to pull up the .pdf file (nearly 19 megs!) and
then enlarge the screen image on a 21" display until I could see some
detail.

Frankly, you are into a pretty complex mechanical assembly and I really
don't see how it would be possible to replace the panel alone with
virtually disassembling half the radio. Maybe doing a cosmetic repair on
the scratches would work out better.

Sorry you are having the problem and that I cannot be of any help.
