Hi Jerry,
I have both the FT-100 and the 706MK II G. I use the FT-100 in my truck
with the Yaesu screwdriver antenna and the 706 in my 5th wheel camper.
The 100 is very simple to use and I find it ideal for having QSOs while
driving. The tune button tunes rig and antenna. The DSP although after
the agc is an on dash button option and works nicely and the noise
blanker is the best I have ever seen for ignition and engine noise. On
the other hand for operating in my camper once we are stopped and set up
the 706 has more traditional features and is more like a all-mode HF and
all-mode vhf radio in it's approach. So... I'd recommend the FT-100 for
driving and using your radio but if you do more radio once you are
stopped and camping in your RV I'd go with the 706. Or... I've got an
extra 756PRO since I bought my PRO II that I could sell you and then
you'd have one for the house and one for your RV. No need to haul it
back and forth.
