I have owned both and found the DSP-599zx to be superior in
every way.
I sold my 599zx and bought a NIR-12 because I was told that
the NIR-12 was superior in SSB applications, my experience
did not bear that out and I sold the NIR-12 at a significant loss
and acquired a 599zx once again.
One of the neatest features of the 599zx is the automatic removal
of the bane of HF, lids keying up on top of QSO's. The NIR-12
was not only unable to get that done it alos added too much
distortion to the signal and was hypersensitive to the slighest
tweak.
Anyone aware of a small and simple dsp audio processor that
removes heterodynes like the 599zx?
IMHO, YMMV ... 73, doc KD4E
