Hi Marty,

I use the HM-I and the GoldLine HC-5 interchangeably on my IC-756Pro 2.
Settings are as follows:

Mic Gain: HM-I 10 o'clock; GoldLine 12 o'clock

Compression: HM-I 9 ~ 10 o'clock; GoldLine 12 o'clock

For both: COMP-ON-MID, 3 ~ 5 dB compression
TX equalisation: Bass -2 dB; Treble +3 dB

I get excellent audio reports with both, although listening stations report
that the GoldLine sounds "a little smoother".

These settings are valid also for my IC-756Pro.  I do not use an external
preamp.
