When you key the rig with an unmodulated mic on USB there is no RF energy
going out, thus you will not get an SWR indication at all.

When speaking or at PSK31 you get SWR=3 which is the actual SWR you have at
the coax connection at the rig. It indicates that your antenna is not at 50
Ohms and needs to be retuned for lower SWR or use an antenna tuner. The rig
will automatically reduce its output and get very hot at this high SWR.
