VOX on the Icom rigs is strange at best. My 706 pulses with VOX and I have
been unable to find the "sweet spot" indicating there isn't one. My ICOM
mike will NOT work VOX either. My 756ProII ain't too keen on VOX for the
digital modes so I use the PTT feature. Would suggest you do likewise, if
possible. I have tried the DX4WIN PSK but it will not do vox either but
the PTT line does.
BTW, My Pryme Desk Mike (Icom version) will not do VOX on the 706 but is ok
with the 756. The Icom hand mike works the same. I have one hand mike
that works ok with the 706. I would like to see what the differences are
but so far, I go for function rather than education.
I am gonna hook my laptop up to the 706 when camping and gonna try the
13-pin DIN and audio in/out and Serial port PTT for that also.
