Hi!
I just bought a used 1982 Silverado Suburban - in excellent
condition. I am about to install the same setup as you describe.
I currently have the outbacker marine antenna and hustlers. I have
been told that those two are inferior compared to the
screwdriver-type. But, the issue I see is that the mounting of the
antenna must be done in such a way as to get as much of the
radiator above the truck as possible. Won't the body of the truck
cause a high feedpoint impedence?
By the way, you might be interested in the IC-706MKIIG group at
yahoo: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/IC-706Mk2G/
I would love to hear of your progress and results in your
installation.
