I suppose if you REALLY wanted to keep true RS-232 signals you could put 
two MAX232 chips back to back,  but the TS870 (I'm guessing here) would 
probably be happy with 5v TTL level signals, in that case I'd take a Max 
232 chip then take the ouputs to an optical isolator, optical isolation 
being the only true electrical isolation. If someone doesn't provide a 
link to a schematic I'll send you one.
