[Heathkit] Building for Pleasure

I have both of Heathkit's VHF converters on my SB-301. I can listen to the
local 2M SSB net twice a week. It just proves they work.
On contest days I usually hear more 2M SSB activity and sometimes some 6M
SSB activity. There is not much local 6M activity.
Many years ago I bought most of the parts to build 2M tube transverter
similar to the Hethkit SB-500 but using an 829 PP final instead if 6146s. I
still need to buy a few parts for it before starting
All the ham activity in this area seems to be 2M FM repeater related. Not
much interesting.
I lived in Silicon Valley in the 60's and 70's when there was a lot of real
ham activity. I miss that sometimes. But Silicon Valley is not what it used
to be. It's now Software Valley.
