Hi Bob,
I have a two meter converter installed in my Kenwood R-599 and I have to
build one for six meters. Then I have to build transmit converters for
both bands to use with the companion T-599. So this is the Heathkit
list! The converters will work equally well with the Heathkit receivers
and transmitters I have here. There... now we're back on topic.
I have used a few SMD parts to modify some solid state gear by tacking
the parts across the narrow gap between conveniently located circuit
board traces. I have been using a magnifying glass and direct sunlight
to help see the labels on some of those smaller parts. I am not going to
start the SoftRock project until I complete a small, fold-down worktable
under my south-facing shop window. I'm going to need the strong direct
sunlight.
