okay fellers put on your thinking caps

I have become the proud father of a nearly mint ( cosmetically ) SB100, speaker and p/s. RX's well and TX's well.  No issues with any of that.

HOWEVER, the dial slips but not all the time.  Looking down inside of it and turning the knob I can see it spinning the shaft going into the LMO. Then, the whole thing quits turning. I can rock the knob back and forth and it will catch again and and start turning again. It doesn't do it in the same spot.  

I did not get a manual with this rig and I'm totally unfamiliar with how that all goes together.  I am headed to hardbor freight to get some long hex keys so I can get down in there to make sure all is tight. 

Suggestions anyone?
