[Heathkit] More on HW-101 Finals

Ken,
It's quite a bit lower on ten meters. My notes are
scattered around here somewhere, but I seem to
remember that it was around 15 Watts or so, and when I
replaced the Sylvania IF tube with a Daystrom, it
doubled the output.

At this point, in addition to doing the special
neutralization technique, I'm going to go back and
redo the HFO peaking as well. I have never gotten
more than 90 or so Watts with the rig on 80 through
20, with about 60 on 15, but I only recently tried it
on 10, and realized the significance of the problem.

I'll recheck all bands as-is, and then do the work on
the rig to compare it. I'll put the GE 6146B's back
in, to keep the 6146W's "NIB" (almost).

Well, I can't find my bulletin list that goes beyond
#85. I thought that the latest bulletin was more
definitive, recommending the GE 6146B for all
replacements, as of a certain date. I'll keep digging
to make sure I've got that right

I actually have a few 6HS6s, but I'll check to see if
the 6AH6 helps. It will probably mean another trip to
downtown Atlanta to get some.

That's the plan here, as well.

When I first got the rig, the VFO was way off, due to
some serious banging around by UPS. The bottom cover
was dented on one corner, in fact. It took a couple
of hours of tweaking (after warmup), but I got the VFO
aligned within a kiloHertz end-to-end (and in the
middle) on the 500 kHz range.

I'll get to the realignment in a couple of days and
let y'all know what's what.
