RFC-2 is listed in my HW-8 manual as a 350 uH choke.  RFC-1 is the same.
ZD2 is shown as a VR-36 zener.  That means it is a 36 volt Zener diode.  

I can't say how often they fail...

If the unit has been struck by a lightning surge, watch out for output 
network toroid coil cores that have changed value due to the magnetic pulse.  If one 
band won't tune, that's a possibility to consider.
