The chokes serve two purposes.
1. To slightly raise the grid above ground DC wise by virtue of the 26 Ohms
resistance and to noticably improve IMD.
2. To act as a fuse in case of an internal tube arc or short.
Leave the circuit as is no matter what you may read otherwise.
The output difference with the grids grounded is negligible since the amp is
PS limited anyway.
