[Heathkit] Help on HO-10 Update "almost"

When I had one of those I didn't have trouble as it was still fairly new.
I now have an SB-610 which is almost the same animal repackaged!
I used a combination of 600 volt capacitors in parallel/series.
Specifically I used a bunch of 0.2mf caps. I made up three paralleled
combinations of 0.2 or 0.25mf @ 600 volts caps. Then put these three
"modules" in series to yield about 0.12 to 0.18mf. @ 1800 volts working.
The modern Mylar caps are much smaller than the old papers and
can be rigged this way without needing a square foot of space!
I don't think you will find any of the original sized caps around
as these have been sought after many times in the past wit no success.
The 1V2 rectifiers are OK. The biggest problem with the HO-10 was the
power transformer. If you have one that has survived, then it will
probably be OK for quite a while. I remember my old HO-10
transformer failed and had to install a new one before it
was out of warranty.

| Found one bad resistor on the focus pot and replaced it.
| Also replaced a 100 ohm resistor on back of the CRT coming form the focus pot.
| Now trace is sharp with the focus control all the way clockwise.
| However, I have fuze and trace is still out of focus on the left side near
| the end of the trace.
| After about 15 minutes line goes out of focus again.
| The 1600 volt .15 mfd caps can't be found.
| Any information from someone who has fixed this problem or located caps?
| Thanks,
| Dan/N4VET
