Don't use 6146B tubes without first neutralizing them.
If the tubes won't neutralize, then go back to 6146
or 6146A types. If they do neutralize, watch them for
a few hours. If the neutralization changes, then
replace them with 6146 or 6146A tubes.
The 6146B is NOT the same tube as the 6146 and 6146A
and they often cause problems when used in place of
the 6146 / 6146A / 8298. This is due to the fact that
the 6146B / 8298A types often "take off" due to the
differences in construction.
The article that was published in Electric Radio a
couple of years ago about the 6146 family of tubes
(and has been republished in various other
publications since then) can be found on either of the
websites that are listed at the end of this message.
RCA was probably the best manufacturer of 6146 type
tubes (all three types!). They basically "invented"
the tube type! It will not hurt to mix brands and
even mixing 6146 with 6146A (the main difference is
the "make up" of the heater). But, NEVER mix a 6146 /
6146A with a 6146B. That is really asking for
trouble!

Get rid of both of them and get a pair of Sylvania
6146B's. I wouldn't use a RCA 6146 in anything! Do
your best to not mix different brands in the your
finals.
All I use is RCA's They run just great on my 7
transmitters and transceivers.
