Good info from Glen.

The B is a higher gain tube so it can become unstable in marginally designed
circuits.
In addition it is capable of increased plate current so watch out you dont
overburden the PS.

One other family member is the 6146W, a mil spec version of the 6146.

Ive used RCA since I built an original DX100 back in 1956; no complaints
that couldnt be traced to operator stupidity.
