There's a real fun contest this weekend. Perfect to kill the winter =
boredom
and a great way to operate even if you only hold a Technician license. =
The
ARRL January sweepstakes starts today (Saturday) at 2:00 PM local time =
and
continues until 11:00 PM tomorrow evening. No Patriots game to watch? =
Who
cares, get into the contest. It's way to cold outside so stay in and =
have
fun!

The contest is for all bands 6 meters and higher. You will find the most
activity on 2 meters, closely followed by either 6 meters or 70cm =
depending
on band conditions on 6. The exchange is simple, signal report and grid
square. What's your grid square, for most of us it's FN32, but check =
below
to learn more about grid squares. Most of the activity is on SSB, =
144.200
MHz and 50.125 MHz are good places to look. Only have FM, try 146.49, =
146.55
and 146.58 for points. Your score is the total number of contacts times =
your
total number of grid squares.

The other local club in the area, MTARA, is participating in this =
contest as
a club event. Since many HCRA members are also MTARA members, remember =
to
put: MOUNT TOM AMATEUR REPEATER ASSN in the club affiliation box in your =
log
so MTARA will get credit for your efforts.

Have fun and please look for KK1W during the contest - I need the =
points.
