Well, are you ready? It's only three (3) days away and it looks like the
weather will be our friend. At least I'm sure we won't be cold - a little
shower, that's another story!
Everyone and anyone who wants to help should converge at beautiful Dufresne
Park in Granby, MA at 2:00 PM this Friday. Towers and antennas will be
arriving and you can get a chance to pitch in and help set up seven HF
stations. A great chance to learn about tower erection, power generation,
coax cables, antenna assembly, wire dipoles and beams and a whole lot more!
And it won't cost you a single penny. What a sweet deal.
Come Saturday it's time to get all that aluminum in the air, position the
campers, install the radios and logging computers and get ready to operate
at 2:00 PM. Then it's a 24 hour sprint to see how many stations we can work
until 2:00 PM on Sunday. In between there will be great food, lots of people
to shoot the breeze with and trade Field Day stories from the past. We can
also take the time to work with the newcomers and show them how amateur
radio can be an effective means of emergency communication and fun at the
same time. Of course the public is always invited and will be amazed at our
communications prowess!
Then it's 2:000 PM on Sunday. The operators are tired, the food is dwindling
like the contacts and it's time to take it all down and pack it away for
next year. If this is the only time you can make it that's OK, you're a real
hero! After 24 to 36 hours any help we can get is greatly appreciated.
So what are you waiting for? Make the committment and come on down. It's fun
and I guarantee you will come away with knowledge and experiences that will
carry you forward in our great hobby.

'73 for now and I'm looking forward to seeing lots of new faces Friday
afternoon.
