I think it's a good idea. Who wants to carry around a DD-214 (if you
don't have a VA medical card); many businesses provide a discount for
veterans, it's really handy to just whip out my card.
(Ive learned to be bold about asking if a business gives a veteran's
discount - two off the top of my head are Lowe's and Advance Auto.
Kerrville Home Depot at one time said they only give discounts to
service connected disabled vets, then a few months later I tried again
and they gave me the discount.)
