[HBR] For Sale: RARE HBR-17 Receiver

Selling my rare HBR-17 receiver.   For all the HBR-16’s I’ve seen over the past 10 years I’ve never seen a 17.   I was NOT the builder.   I acquired it from the original builder who is an SK now.   I acquired it when the OT who was close to 90 yrs old was told by his family that they were just going throw out all his radio gear when he went into a nursing home.  This bothered him very much because the receiver meant a lot to him even though he hadn’t used it since 1971 :)  

It is very well built, clean chassis, good construction both mechanical and electrical.

The HBR-17 adds the silky smooth Eddystone slide rule dial, Q-Multiplier, and filtering to the HBR-16 design.  The knobs are National type with fluted knob and metal skirt.  The insides are very clean, no corrosion.  The outsides need some cleaning up.  All of the National knobs have some plastics outgassing fuzz on them that needs to be cleaned off.  The front panel is grimy from just storage over the years and needs to be cleaned off.  The OT was concerned that the coils would become separated from the radio so the coil box is marked “Precious”.  Comes with a complete set of coils for 80m, 40m, 20m, 15m, and 10m. This HBR is very sensitive and a good performer.   It just needs to be cleaned up.  Here is a chance to own a rare version.  Because of its age and the fact that I have little control over the shipping and handling of the radio, the radio is sold as-is.
