You will have two problems with the 204. It’s not really very stable, so warm it up for a while (yes transistors warm up). The second is that it does not have an RF tight enclosure or attenuator. For a good alignment source, you want your signal to be *only* on the output terminals. Signal running all over the place makes things tough. The simple solution often is to put the generator far away from the radio. That’s not very convenient, but it’s easier than buying a new generator.

To answer your question, slap a 50 ohm load on the generator and a 20 db coaxial attenuator if you need a 50 ohm source. My *guess* is that you won’t see any benefit from doing that.
